Birthday Ride Bottom Bracket

Birthday Ride Bottom Bracket

Ah yes! The old BRBB! Birthday Ride Bottom Bracket destruction. I have had this Redline Monocog for as long as I can remember. Miles have added up and I think I am on my second bottom bracket which I think I purchased from Empire BMX

Well today for my birthday, I decided to head into town for a quick spin, and as seeing that I haven't riding a bike in over a month and a half due to oral surgeries and working way too many hours, today was the day. After dropping off some much-needed items at my son's school, I loaded my bike into the bed of my truck and headed into town. That is when I noticed that the drive side of my threaded bottom bracket looked loose. So, I decided to head to Hub MRKT to see if I could tighten it up there before the ride.

After pulling the crankarms off, it seems that the drive side shell had actually cracked! Thank goodness that the shop had a new RANT Euro Bottom Bracket in stock. Those guys really saved a day of riding, and I ended up getting a good five-miles in.

Welcome To The S&R Club

Great, just what everyone wanted, another goofy webpage about bikes and bike specs. Bike nerds everywhere rejoice, everyone else, get ready for some really boring techno bike babble about frame specs, paint, metal specs and talk of grumpy riders who if they had it their way, would still be riding in toe clips and dreaming of Japanese produced lugged bike frames.  The following images are from a 1993 Bridgestone Bicycle Company catalogue. From a time when most bike company catalogs where fancy high gloss printed pages of selling gibberish and catchy phrases, these Bridgestone catalogs stood out as some of the best produce and well written pieces of the time. Well ahead of the times, in a world where a certain company on a trek was buying up everyone in their path. But more on that later.
